Brenda Baker

Brenda Baker is an award-winning writer, performer and recording artist from Saskatoon. Her unique creative life includes attaining a BFA in visual art; coast to coast appearances and two CD releases as a songwriter for adults; a TV series, three CD releases and regular concerts as a children’s entertainer; and a Saskatchewan Book Award for Fiction for her collection of short stories, The Maleness of God. Brenda began her journey as a mother in 2003, but continued to pursue her artistic interests whenever possible. She launched Nexstage Live Music Performance Coaching to help emerging artists develop their live shows. For eight years Brenda has been the Founding Director of Kids of Note, the hit performing group for children, with and without disabilities, who love to sing. Camp Outlook is her first novel. Before publication it was given the John V. Hicks Manuscript Award. Brenda's children’s story, Tiny Teresa Twiddle, won a Saskatchewan Literary Award.

Brenda lives in Saskatoon with writer Arthur Slade and their daughter Tanaya.
