Sukanya Pillay

Sukanya Pillay is General Counsel and Executive Director of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.  Previously, she has served as CCLA National Security Director, a Canadian law professor and academic, head of the Witness program at Human Rights First New York, and other international positions including in-house counsel in Asia.  She has written extensively on human rights, corporate social responsibility, and redress for victims; and has won research, writing and teaching awards, including the President’s Award from the South Asian Bar Association and Holmes Cardozo Award for Outstanding Conference Paper from the American Institute for Legal Studies in Business.  She has made documentary films broadcast on BBC World, and shown in festivals including the Human Rights Watch Film Festival New York.
