Janet Wilson is an author and fine artist who is continually inspired by stories of young people making a difference in their world. Her book Shannen and the Dream for a School was the winner of the First Nations Communities Read program for 2012-13. She has written and illustrated many picture books, including Our Earth: How Kids are Saving the Planet, winner of the Science in Society Book Award and a Smithsonian Notable Book. She has written two follow-up books in that series, Our Rights: How Kids are Changing the World and Our Heroes: How Kids are Making a Difference. Janet lives in Eden Mills, Ontario, a community with a strong environmental focus that includes an initiative to be the first village in North America to go carbon neutral.
