Open Position:
We are looking for a highly organized, enthusiastic book lover to join our sales and marketing team in downtown Toronto. Reporting to the Publishers, the Marketing & Promotions Manager is responsible for the marketing and publicity of all Second Story Press titles and products, and all distributed titles. You will be working with our small, collaborative team, and closely with our authors to effectively promote book sales and brand recognition across North America.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute marketing and publicity plans for all titles.
Maintain communications with authors, illustrators, and all contributors around marketing and promotions activities.
Execute marketing related grants, budgets.
Execute author launches, readings, appearances, tours, visits.
Execute advertising plans for consumer-facing and trade publications.
Execute participation in trade, library, and educator conferences and digital events/webinars.
Collaborating with the team to manage sales conference presentations, social media planning and content, Second Story Press website, print catalogues, and digital newsletters.
You will have one direct report (the Marketing & Promotions Coordinator.)
After usual business hours and the possibility of travel required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary publishing qualification or equivalent education/experience.
4 + years of book marketing experience.
Experience in a manager role.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated facility for relationship management.
Proven ability to work independently and be a self-starter, with experience managing projects from inception to completion.
Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
Experience/ relationships with key book media.
Proven copywriting ability.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with Catalist, BookManager, Edelweiss, CoreSource, and BooksOnix. Experience with Canva or other graphic design platforms. Experience with Shopify or other digital content creation platforms.
Familiarity with sales reporting tools and sales analytics would be an asset.

We maintain a hybrid work from home and office schedule. Salary will be commensurate with experience, but will likely fall in the range of $50,000 to $55,000, plus benefits.
