Kathy Clark's first book was the children's novel A Whisper In My Heart. She wrote her second book, Guardian Angel House, after watching a Hungarian documentary about the nuns at the Sisters of Charity convent in Budapest and realizing that these were the people who had rescued her mother and aunt. Guardian Angel House, an OLA Red Maple Award finalist, is based on her mother and aunt’s lives as Jewish children hidden from the Nazis by that group of nuns. The Choice is inspired by Kathy's father’s experiences also during the Holocaust. Kathy lives in Kanata Ontario and was raised by her mother and a loving stepfather. She learned of events described in The Choice as a grown-up when she became reacquainted with her dad.
