Laura Nicol
Laura Nicol is a Toronto-born, BC-raised writer of fiction and nonfiction whose work has appeared in The Malahat Review, The Globe and Mail, Existere, and The Sun’s Readers Write. She is the winner of the UVic 50th Anniversary Fiction Prize for her story, "The Sweater", and was shortlisted in the 2013 Writers’ Union of Canada Short Prose Competition for her story "Safe". In 2017, she won the Brenda Strathern Memorial Prize with an excerpt from a work-in-progress that is now a novel for young adults called The Good Girl’s Guide to Anarchy. She holds an MFA in creative writing from UBC and lives, writes, and teaches on Treaty 7 territory in Calgary, Alberta.
