In the spring of 2020, the Covid-19 virus changed the world and made daily life much more challenging. We had to stay apart, away from work, school, and our normal routines. But, all around the world, kids came up with creative and thoughtful ways to help others. From making 3-D printed medical equipment to food bank fundraising to a neighbourhood joke stand, to creating a semi-automatic hand-washing machine, kids made a difference in their communities. Erin Silver

Erin Silver has been writing professionally for nearly 20 years. Her work has appeared in everything from The Washington Post and The Globe and Mail to Harper’s Bazaar and Good Housekeeping, among many other North American magazines, newspapers and blogs.

Her middle grade novel, Just Watch Me, placed third in the Uncommon Quest writing competition and will be published by Common Deer Press in October 2020. Proud to Play, a non-fiction book for middle grade readers about the experience of LGBTQ athletes in professional sports, will be published by Lorimer in spring 2021. The Shiva, a picture book, and Rush Hour, a middle grade book about traffic, will be published by Orca in 2022.
