About the Author
Gretchen Sands-Gamble
Gretchen Sands-Gamble is Anishinaabe from Bkejwanong Territory (Walpole Island First Nation) in Southwestern Ontario, where she grew up swimming in the rivers, playing in the bush, and reading while perched in tree branches. She is an elementary school teacher, an artist, and a mom. She holds a master’s degree in education and is passionate about reading, creativity, and learning. She strives to ensure Indigenous students see their cultures and languages represented in their schools.
About the Illustrator
Storm Angeconeb
Storm Angeconeb is an Ojibwe artist. A member of Lac Seul First Nation, Treaty Three Territory, she was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is currently based in Red Lake, Ontario. Much of her work includes animal and bird representations of those close to her. Over the years, her artwork and murals have been displayed throughout Winnipeg. Storm continues her art through painting, digital art, and practicing beadwork.

Isabelle Montagnier
When she is not busy reading or leading historical walks as a volunteer, Isabelle Montagnier really enjoys translating children’s books, with a marked preference for stories that deal with important topics. Certified by ATIO and full member of LTAC, Isabelle lives in Toronto, Ontario.
